How to be an Excellent Employee!
0 CommentsPosted by michelle on August 30, 2010 under Aviator Church, Featured Post, Random
By my estimation, one EXCELLENT employee is better than numerous GOOD employees. At Aviator Church, we’ve got some excellent staff as a part of our team! Here are some of the lessons I observe and learn from them: Embrace Change. It take employers extra time to sell the change with good employees. Understand the goals of the church/organization and align their events, activities &... more. -

Not apologizing for being gone so long…
0 CommentsPosted by michelle on August 24, 2010 under Featured Post, Random
I don’t know about you, but my least favorite kind of blog post is the kind that apologizes for being away from the blog for so long. So...I shall not be apologizing. While I feel all kinds of remorseful for not stopping by here for quite a few months, I’d like to dispense with “what I’ve been doing these past months” and say that it’s nice to be back, and that I’ve missed this sp... more. -

0 CommentsPosted by michelle on March 16, 2010 under Featured Post, Volunteer Tips
Is your church or ministry area hoping to increase the number of volunteers serving within your church? Something you should consider is your church structure. In which of the 2 big M's are you encouraging people to serve? Ministry or Meetings? The healthy, growing churches I've seen get this right. They choose Ministry. Don’t pick up the penny!

So I'm walking through our office building today and totally see a penny on the ground. Do I pick it up or should leave it there? Is it even worth it? First, it takes a moment to notice the coin...then, I have to think about whether or not I should pick it up: I wonder, "Is it totally lame to pick up a penny? "...I think, who's watching and who's filming me picking this thing up only to show... more. -

Volunteer Tip # 73 – Someone Has To Clean The Toilets
1 CommentsPosted by michelle on January 28, 2010 under Featured Post, Volunteer Tips
Do people have the gift of toilet cleaning? The setup/breakdown gift? The gift of cleaning the vomit of the 7th grader who thought it was fun to chug a gallon of milk in youth group? I'm thinking not....but these are still important jobs that must be done. At Aviator Church we've adopted an 80/20 rule. We ask that 80% of a volunteer's time be spent working in the area where he/she is mo... more. -

This week I've been spending quite a bit of time at Office This editing Aviator Church videos. Long days and numerous bottles of water often cause me to find myself visiting the public restrooms. While there are many bathrooms in the building, there is one I've been frequenting more often than the others. For a few days now I've entered this specific bathroom only to find myself extremely limi... more. -

Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself." -Matthew 22:37-39 I read this verse this morning and really spent some time thinking about it. As I quickly skimmed over it, as I have many times before, it seemed very simple...ea... more. -
