Volunteer Tip # 33 – The Last Line Of Your Job Description

So today I’m sitting here thinking about the job descriptions of our Aviator Church volunteers. The description of each volunteer position is very different with the exception of the very last line. The last line of all Aviator Church volunteer job descriptions is:  WORK YOURSELF OUT OF THE POSITION.

We need to get excited about passing the baton! Imagine how flippin’ cool it would be if everyone met and trained someone to take their place and then either began volunteering in a new position or continued volunteering in the same area but with more help!  The multiplication process would be insanely effective!

Let’s do it, Aviator Church!  Here’s the process:

1.  Recruit – Find someone awesome interested in volunteering in your position!

2.  Observe – Allow your recruit to observe what you do!

3.   Train – Teach this person your job!  Allow them to work alongside you!

4.  Give it Away – Entrust the position to this person.  Allow them to work on their own!

Aviator Church, I’m pumped to see you guys work yourselves out of your volunteer positions and I’m pumped to see God use you to engage more people in serving Him and His people.
